The kids and I decided to create a little vegie patch to keep us busy these holidays. Three days in and the novelty of watering and checking plants is still strong. Let’s see how long it lasts! Here are some shots of Delilah helping out.

Nothing better than seeing children with plants, water and dirt. Loads of fun
Yes, the kids love getting all dirty. I wish I loved it when they then run through the house!
We’ve got a small garden as well and it’s great for kids to teach them how to grow things! Enjoy! Emily
I saw the photos of your carrots. I must remember to separate ours! Otherwise I might end up accidentally teaching the kids a few choice words…
Actually I’ve since been told to make sure the soil is pure, smooth, no roughness, because as soon as carrots hit something they bend! Interesting hey?? Good luck, keep me posted 🙂
Love it. I have tried numerous times to grow a vege garden and they always die. Our 2 year old is in charge of a tomato plant – its doing superbly!
I have attempted growing vegies in the past, too. Usually, though, I forget about them! Oops!
This time I am growing them much closer to the back door where I see them all the time, and hopefully the kids will keep me going back to them long enough for it to become a habit. We’ll see.
Those years on the farm weren’t wasted after all !
Don’t get me started. I am pretty sure Kirsty is totally over my watching TV shows about “escaping” to a more rural life. So, instead of a beachside caravan, maybe it will be a country cabin…
BTW your RSS feed is not working for me.
Odd. It seems to work for me. Anyone else having this issue?
She’s positively gorgeous and seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself. Great job. I would love to grow veggies but our soil is so dodgy here. I like the idea of using pots, then I wouldn’t need to buy so much new soil.
Yes, she is gorgeous… but I might be biased!
The pots were cheap to fill. I mixed a bag of good quality vegetable potting mix with a cheaper bag of soil. In hindsight I should have used two bags of good stuff as the cheaper soil was full of all sorts of twiggy debris.
What is it with kids and watering cans? My little loves them
I know! Our youngest (pictured) was out there again, first thing this morning with the watering can!
