What can I say? It’s Patrick Swayze. Dirty Dancing. Ghost. Point Break. Roadhouse….? We had a copy of Ghost taped off the TV and I remember watching it with my Mum sooo many times.
That guy was so charismatic, so cool. Kevin Bacon might have been Footloose, but he had nothing on Patrick Swayze. He made dancing cool.
Patrick Swayze was also in the 1984 classic Red Dawn (along with Jennifer Grey and Charlie Sheen, when they were all child actors), which was just a classic movie of my childhood. If you have read (or watched) Tomorrow When The War Began, it’s pretty much the same story. But American. With Patrick Swayze.
Ooh. It turns out I had a bit of a man-crush.
I am sharing today via Flog Your Blog Friday.

God I loved Patrick Swayze! He was the ultimate incarnation of tall, handsome, square-jawed manliness – and I think this appeal was universal hence your man-crush 😉
I used to have a Dirty Dancing poster on my wall and I’d look at it and curse the fact that the teenage dirtbags at my school were about as far away from this ideal as you could get!
Definitely can’t go past PS without just a little flutter in my heart !!!
We have Dirty Dancing on DVD and I have been known to watch it when I am feeling a little down in the dumps – a great pick-me-up !
Have a fantastic Friday !
Me
Pool old Patrick – what a dude x
Point Break – what a great movie. Just remember if you want the ultimate rush you gotta be prepared to pay the ultimate price. Bodie forever man!
Charismatic and cool he was, indeed!
I saw Dirty Dancing on telly a few months ago. I fell in love with him all over again. RIP Patrick!
“Ditto!” I loved Ghost too 🙂
Patrick Swayze. Now THAT what I call a Man.
I’m ready for the flack … but poor old Patrick does nothing for me … at all :(. I tolerated Dirty Dancing at the movies as a teenager, when all my friends were swooning …. I’ve never seen Ghost or Red Dawn. I’ve read that he was a truly great bloke and I was genuinely saddened when the world lost him but it looks like I’m the odd one out.
