More Frostgrave Wizard Specialists

Last week I wrote  post exploring themed spell lists for wizard specialists in Frostgrave. This was originally done because I was looking at spell selection for one of my war bands. I had a figure that I decided was a master of earth and stone, so came up with a list of spells for a Geomancer. It was fun and sparked my imagination, so I have written some more! Once again each wizard specialist has a brief description and a list of starting spells suitable for their magic style. Each specialist is based on one of the current schools of magic...

Frostrgrave Wizard Specialists

Here is an idea to provide some additional flavour and depth to your Frostgrave wizard. The ten schools of magic cover a lot of ground, but there is still room to “drill down” and create even more specialised wizards. This idea came about as I was thinking of all the kinds of wizards and mages we see in literature, film and roleplaying games. Right and Left Brain Thinking for Writers and Everyone Else

Holy crap, I just did an exercise where I wrote a response to a question, then switched hands and answered the same question. With a totally different answer. Sure, my handwriting was awful, but I actually wrote a different answer. Apparently it has got something to do with how our right and left brains process information and assist (or hinder) our self expression. I am reading The Write Type by Karen E. Peterson, which claims to help you “discover your true writer’s identity and create a customised writing plan”. The idea is you explore your preconceptions about writing practice and...

Meta Dice

Not that long ago a gentleman by the name of Bill Edmunds got in contact and told me about an awesome kickstarter he was planning for a game aid he calls Meta Dice. These groovy things are cubes that have a host of info and all sorts of potential for our games. Yes, the sides are numbered 1 – 6 like standard d6, but they also have a success/fail icon, qualifiers for “and” and “but”, and even a hit location indicator. You should totally go and check out the Meta Dice kickstarter, it only has 3 days left to run! Now...

Frostgrave

My hobby gaming has been consumed by a new miniature skirmish game the last few weeks. I stumbled across Frostgrave, published by Osprey Games, about a month ago and was instantly excited. The designer described it, somewhere online, as “Mordheim meets D&D”, two games I really love, so I had to get it! In Frostgrave you play a wizard who has gone to a long forgotten city of wizards that was mysteriously frozen in ages past. Being a sensible sort of wizard, you take an apprentice and a band of soldiers which might include war hounds, thugs, thieves, knights, rangers...
