Another FU Hack for you all today, this time I do The Matrix! The original inspiration to do this Hack came from a comment from Jean-Baptiste Breton. I also drew heavily on Steve Darlington’s own Matrix RPG, There Is No Spoon, which is totally cool and worth checking out. The final approach to the “special conditions” of the Matrix, particularly the swapping out of skills, went through a couple of iterations. I started by requiring you to spend a FU point to “learn” a new skill, but decided that slowed the fast-paced awesomeness of the film. Instead, players are free to swap their skills as long as they can talk to their Controller. I hope this inspires many a mad-dash to a phone booth, like in the films!
